Do you dream of becoming a digital nomad and wonder how to make money online? In the digital world there are several ways to create an online income. Some require financial investment, others a lot of time and patience. However, patience pays off. In this article we will look at the most common options, and I am happy to share my own experience with you.

Create your own website

Setting up, managing and monetising websites has always appealed to me. However, it is a path that requires time. If you do not have enough capital to launch paid campaigns straight away and rely only on SEO, the first year of hard work will probably not support you financially. With sufficient care, however, a website can gradually reach a high position in its subject area. I recommend focusing on a specific topic and trying to be the best in it. Search algorithms favour pages where the visitor finds added value and useful content written by an expert on the topic.

TIP: If you are not an IT expert and are not building a billion-dollar business, I recommend creating a website with WordPress and hosting it on the Wedos platform, for example. Monetising your website:

• AdSense: An automatic method that lets you earn income based on the display of advertising banners. The price varies depending on the topic of the site.

• Affiliate marketing: Promoting products or services with the opportunity to earn higher income and to establish cooperation with interesting people.

• Selling your own products/services: The most lucrative form of monetisation, but it requires capacity and business skills.
• PR articles: They provide immediate income for a little time, especially if you have a domain with a higher authority profile (DA/DR)

Invest in shares

If you have capital and can afford to invest regularly, try looking at shares, indices, commodities and cryptocurrencies. Decide whether you want to focus on trading or on long-term investment.

TIP: Personally, I recommend the eToro platform for buying shares, cryptocurrencies, indices and other assets, and for the option of copying successful investors.

Create video content on YouTube

Making videos for YouTube can bring in income for many people. Create tutorials and reviews, or focus on specialist topics. Every valuable piece of content you add can, over time, bring in an interesting passive income through advertising.

TIP: Online advertising becomes more expensive every year. That means your content will keep earning more and more. Online advertising is getting more expensive faster than the annual rate of inflation.

Sell your online courses

If you are good at something, teach it to others and earn a considerable amount of money from it. Selling digital content online does not require large capital. 

TIP: Sell your premium content through memberships on platforms such as HeroHero and Patreon.

Become an editor for online magazines
