For home builders
Are you building a house and is the ÚVT fibre network already brought to your plot?
Advantages of a fibre connection
It is the best technology in the world. It is extremely robust and reliable. The cable stays hidden in the ground for many decades, which also means that a fibre connection is resistant to interference and weather, and it cannot be damaged by lightning or power surges. In addition, fibre allows high transmission speeds in both directions (download and upload).
Thanks to its simplicity, faults are much less frequent than with other technologies. It does not become obsolete – practically the same fibre has been in use since the 1970s. Since then, speeds have improved "just" by replacing the end devices. Technically (apart from the price), it would be no problem today to offer home connections of up to 10 Gbps (10,000 Mbps) over these fibres.
Material needed to bring the fibre cable into the house
Call us on 227 023 023 and check whether the ÚVT Internet fibre network is available at the site of your future house.
If the fibre network is available at your site, you need to collect the material needed to bring the fibre cable into the house from our branch (Hrnčířská 383, Jesenice-Zdiměřice). We provide this material (a microduct – MT 10/6 mm) completely FREE OF CHARGE. This offer applies even if you do not plan to use our services. We make this offer because once the house is finished, bringing the cable in is difficult, and owners may change their minds many years later.
Bringing the fibre cable into the house
Our company's fibre protective duct is usually located at the boundary of your plot, next to the electricity (gas) pillar. We can tell you the exact location if needed.
The microduct you have collected must be inserted into a KOPOFLEX protective duct and laid in the ground. You can lay the microduct together with the power cable. The fibre line is dielectric, i.e. it contains no conductive parts, so it does not interfere with the power line in any way.
Run the microduct from the pillar all the way to the place where your home data network wiring will be located. The microduct definitely does not belong in the electrical switchboard!
Leave 0.5-1 m of spare length at both ends. It is important not to kink the microduct – it would then be impossible to blow in the fibre cable. If it is damaged, order a new one from us; alternatively, the microduct can be repaired with a special coupler, but it must always be repaired before the trench is backfilled.
Once the microduct is buried in the ground and brought into the house to the agreed place, contact us on 227 023 023 to arrange for the microduct to be connected. Once the microducts are connected, the next stage follows: blowing in the optical fibre on a pre-agreed date.
Internal data wiring
When building a house, it is very important not to forget the internal data wiring. It is simple and inexpensive to install, and it can easily be done together with the aerial wiring and electrics.
Please run the microduct mentioned above from the pillar all the way to your utility room or another place where you will put your home data cabinet. There must be a power socket in the cabinet. A utility cabinet of sufficient size will do as a data cabinet, but professionals install purpose-built 19" or 10" racks.
Connect the data sockets in the house to the home data cabinet using a standard network cable (type Cat5.e UTP according to the IEEE 802.3 standard – speed 2.5 Gbps). We recommend running the cables in flexible conduits, so you can easily extend or repair the wiring later. By installing double sockets, or several double sockets in a room, you will avoid unnecessary routers or switches in the future.
As a general rule, there should be a data socket in every room you plan to use. When planning, bear in mind that systems such as heat pumps, boilers, solar panels etc. are already being connected to the internet today. Also run a cable to the places where Wi-Fi access points may be located. Ideally, use a Mesh Wi-Fi system, which consists of several access points and can cover even large buildings with a complex layout. With the rise of the "Internet of Things", household appliances such as fridges, washing machines, dishwashers and others are now being connected too.
Do not rely on the Wi-Fi signal alone, because the capacity of a wireless network may not be enough for demanding multimedia transmissions, and together with insufficient coverage of the house it is a common cause of problems with the data connection. A wireless network is intended mainly for connecting mobile devices.
If you do not plan to put the router in the data cabinet, you need to install a double socket (see above) where the Wi-Fi router will be placed (usually the living room), for the input and output of your home network to and from the home cabinet.

Activating your fibre connection
If the microduct at your property has already been connected and the optical fibre blown in, and you would like to start using an internet connection from ÚVT Internet (or other services we provide), contact us on 227 023 023 and order the activation of your fibre connection.
