About Zahradní Město
Zahradní Město is a residential area covering the northern and eastern part of the cadastral area of Záběhlice in the Prague 10 municipal district. Construction of the district began in 1928. In the same year the association Harley Davidson Club Praha was founded. In the 1930s, "Zahradní město" was also a commonly used general term for districts of family houses with gardens. The new district in Záběhlice was originally written with a capital "Z" and a lowercase "m"; this spelling has been kept in the official name of the street "U Zahradního města", named in 1934, while the original name of today's Chrpová Street, which was "V zahradním městě" from 1934 to 1962, is given with lowercase letters in the encyclopaedia Pražský uličník. About 34,600 people live in the Zahradní Město part of the city.
