About the municipality Modřany

Modřany (German: Moderschan) have been part of Prague since 1 January 1968. Today they form a cadastral area of the Prague 12 municipal district, whose office is located in Modřany. Their history goes back to the 11th century. On 13 November 1936 they were elevated to a market town, and on 14 June 1964 Komořany was joined to them. In 1963 or 1966, the Modřany local national committee was renamed the municipal national committee, which in effect amounted to elevation to a town.
