Site Manager / Technical Supervisor for FTTH Fibre Network Construction

About the position

We are building our own fibre network and are looking for someone to oversee our construction sites from the first dig to handing over the finished network for operation. You will be our person in the field. You will make sure that contractors build according to the design, on schedule and to a quality we can rely on for the next thirty years. ÚVT Internet is a Czech family company that has been connecting homes and businesses in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region to the internet since 1998. We have over 20,000 customers and our own fibre and wireless infrastructure. We also provide telephony, IT services and solar energy sharing. Every year we extend our FTTH fibre network to more municipalities. For us, it is not just about cables and servers. We are looking for people who want to build something.

What will you be responsible for?

• Supervising the construction of our FTTH fibre network in municipalities and development projects.
• Coordinating and checking contractors: excavation companies, horizontal boring, installers, cable blowing and splicing.
• Checking that construction follows the project documentation, permits and the conditions set by utility network operators.
• Monitoring the schedule, the quality of work carried out and the costs of individual construction projects.
• Accepting work from contractors and checking statements of work and extra work before invoicing.
• Communicating with municipalities, designers, utility network operators, landowners and our future customers.
• Dealing with situations directly on site: clashes with existing utilities, complaints, restoring surfaces to their original condition.
• Attending site inspection meetings and handover procedures.
• Arranging the documentation needed to complete construction: geodetic survey, as-built documentation, photo documentation, reports and measurements.
• Handing the finished network over to our technicians for operation and regular reporting on the status of construction work.

What do we expect from you?

• Experience managing or supervising construction, ideally linear infrastructure (networks, utility networks, telecommunications).
• Experience with fibre networks and FTTH is an advantage.
• The ability to read project documentation and a basic knowledge of planning and building permit procedures and the conditions set by utility network operators.
• The ability to deal sensibly with contractors, but also to stand firm on quality.
• Independence, reliability and a willingness to sort things out directly in the field.
• A category B driving licence and willingness to travel to construction sites in and around Prague.
• Standard computer user skills.
• Secondary or university education in civil engineering is an advantage.
